Brass is copper and zinc, and in an Indian kitchen it is called pital. It is the metal most of this catalogue is made from, because it casts cleanly, takes engraving, and holds a shape for decades without a coating. Everything here is brass all the way through and unlacquered, so the surface will dull with air and skin and come back with lemon and salt in about a minute.

The collection runs from diyas and standing lamps through aarti thalis, kalash, bells and shankh stands, to cookware, masala dabbas, roti boxes, urlis, vases and cast murtis. The weight in grams is on the page, which is how brass is sold at a bartan shop and the one figure you can check on a kitchen scale the day the piece arrives.
