Tin lining stated

Where a vessel is lined, we say so

Makar Sankranti and Pongal. The pongal pot itself, the lamps lit for the morning, thalis, and the small vessels the offering is made in.

Where a brass cooking vessel is tin lined the page states it, and that matters here because pongal is cooked in the pot rather than served from it. The lining wears through after twelve to fifteen months of regular use and is redone by a local kalaiwala. Where a pot is bare brass, the page says that instead, and it is for serving rather than for the stove.
