Oil lamps in brass, from the small hand diya that sits on a shelf to lamps with a peacock cast at the top. A diya is filled with oil or ghee, a cotton wick is laid in the rim or the spout, and the flame is lit for aarti and for festival evenings.

Both spellings turn up in a search and mean the same object: diya, deep, deepak, deepam, and in the south vilakku. Each page prints the weight in grams and says how many wicks the pan takes. Ghee sets solid as the pan cools, so wipe the pan out the same evening rather than letting the residue harden into the points.
