Diyas where the shape is doing as much work as the flame. Lotus pans that open on a stem, shankh diyas, layered lamps, hanging diyas and lamps built on a cast figure or a bird.

They are lit the same way as any other diya, with oil or ghee and a cotton wick in the pan. The difference is that they hold the shelf when they are not lit. Where a lamp carries an antique finish, keep lemon and tamarind away from it, because the dark in the recesses is the finish. Weight in grams is on the page.
