Estimated, not a guarantee. Dispatched from Guwahati, Monday to Saturday.

Each piece is shaped and finished by hand, so small differences in weight, size, finish and surface marking are normal and no two are identical. Colour on screen can differ from the metal in daylight. Handmade in India.

The tractor has a flat canopy roof on four posts over an open cab, a steering wheel visible through the window opening, and a round headlamp let into the nose. The rear wheels are cast with a deep tread and stand about twice the height of the smooth front pair. The trailer runs behind on a drawbar, its bed walled with slatted panels under an open top rail, and every wheel carries a raised hub at the centre.

What is it?

A model vehicle showpiece is a scaled-down machine cast in solid metal for a desk or a shelf, made to be handled and set down rather than played with, and heavy enough to stay where it is put.

Also known as a tractor trolley model, pital tractor showpiece, farm vehicle figurine or toy tractor.

What is in the box?
  • 1 brass tractor
  • 1 brass trailer on a drawbar
How do I look after it?
  • Wash by hand with a mild dishwashing liquid and a soft sponge. Dry fully with a cloth before putting it away — water left standing is what causes spotting.
  • Brass darkens. It reacts with air and with the oils on your hands, and a piece in daily use will dull within weeks. That is the metal telling you it is not plated.
  • To bring the shine back: a paste of lemon juice and salt, or tamarind pulp, or a proprietary brass cleaner. Rub, rinse, dry. Two minutes.
  • Do not use steel wool, scouring pads or bleach.
  • Not dishwasher safe. Not microwave safe.
  • If you would rather it stayed dark, leave it alone — a settled patina protects the surface.

Questions about this piece

Is this brass solid or plated?

Solid, and the weight sits low, in the wheels and the trailer bed. At 1,300 g for something this size, a hollow plated model would be a third of that. Weigh it and the answer is immediate.

Will it look exactly like the photograph?

The casting will match. The polish will not be identical, because it is worked by hand and the flat panels on the bonnet and the trailer bed take the buff differently on every one.

How big is it really?

No dimensions yet, because none have been taken. The weight is the measured figure we can stand behind, and on a cast or raised piece it is a fair guide to bulk. If size is the thing that decides it, write to us and we will measure it before you order.

Will it tarnish?

Yes. Bare brass darkens, and the flat panels on the bonnet and the trailer bed show it first because they catch the most light. A dry cloth brings them back, while the cast recesses in the wheels stay dark.

Do the wheels turn?

We cannot tell from the single photograph whether the axles are pinned to run or cast solid with the body, and we would rather say so than guess. Treat it as a display model until that is confirmed.

Does the trailer come off?

There is a drawbar between the two, so it is built as a tractor and a trailer rather than as one lump. Whether the hitch lifts apart is the next thing we are checking with the maker.
