Each piece is shaped and finished by hand, so small differences in weight, size, finish and surface marking are normal and no two are identical. Colour on screen can differ from the metal in daylight. Handmade in India.

Laxmi holds a lotus bud in each raised hand; Ganesh turns his trunk to his left, and a small mouse sits at his knee on the base. A lidded pot stands on a tab that projects from the front edge between them. A band of lotus petals rings the oval base, under a line of beading.

What is it?

A Laxmi Ganesh murti pairs the two deities worshipped together on Diwali night, cast side by side on a shared base so the pair is installed as one piece.

Also known as a Lakshmi Ganesh murti, Laxmi Ganpati idol, Diwali pooja murti or pital Laxmi Ganesh.

What is in the box?
  • 1 brass Laxmi Ganesh murti
How do I look after it?
  • Wash by hand with a mild dishwashing liquid and a soft sponge. Dry fully with a cloth before putting it away — water left standing is what causes spotting.
  • Brass darkens. It reacts with air and with the oils on your hands, and a piece in daily use will dull within weeks. That is the metal telling you it is not plated.
  • To bring the shine back: a paste of lemon juice and salt, or tamarind pulp, or a proprietary brass cleaner. Rub, rinse, dry. Two minutes.
  • Do not use steel wool, scouring pads or bleach.
  • Not dishwasher safe. Not microwave safe.
  • If you would rather it stayed dark, leave it alone — a settled patina protects the surface.

Questions about this piece

Is this brass solid or plated?

Solid cast brass. At 350 g for a piece this wide there is metal all the way through, and a kitchen scale on the day it arrives settles it faster than any label could.

Will it look exactly like the photograph?

Close, but not identical. Each casting is filed and polished by hand, so the crown points, the petal band on the base and the depth of the shine shift a little between one murti and the next.

How tall is it really?

We have not put a tape to it, so there is no height on this page and we will not print an estimate. The weight is the number we do have, and on a cast figure it tells you more than height does, because two murtis of the same height can differ by a kilo. If the height decides it, write to us and we will measure this one before you order.

Can I do abhishek on it?

Not on the murti itself. Water runs into the petal band on the base and under the two figures, and unlacquered brass left wet there will stain. A dry cloth after pooja keeps both faces clean.
